Bell Sports BB900: 2005 – Tres Design
This was one of the many projects where we were given an existing design and told to implement it in a more realistic manner. I think the original plaster model was made by some of their helmet designers who knew nothing about small consumer electronics design. My boss, Luc analyzed the model and made a good measured drawing of it and all the required interior components and then I pushed it into the third dimension. It wasn’t terribly hard, but the bizarre faceted shape took a long time to model. Once it was done, we had to revise it to make the whole thing a couple millimeters shorter and take out the co-molded text areas. The actual product is just a cycling computer that you fix onto your handlebars, which tracks speed, duration, calories burned etc.
