Elevator exhibit models: 2003 – National Building Museum
I was hired to make 2 models of elevators which would demonstrate how the different designs work. The first was a modern traction drive elevator and the second was an older design, called the winding drum elevator. I also insisted on making a model of an escalator. Given the time constraints, the elevators were finished on time and fully functional, but the escalator didn't work. I ran out of time when making it. It was finished and almost working for several days, but I would have needed at least an additional week to get it working enough to be put in front of the public. There were just too many moving parts, and too many spots of friction. Oh well, they still put it in the show, and no one seems to care. These are photos I took during the opening.
